Questions owners ask
Which phone system do I need?
One that can trigger an automation on a missed call, e.g. a Twilio number or a business phone app with a Zapier integration such as OpenPhone. Check your plan; many carriers’ basic plans can’t do this.
Does my booking app already do this?
Most booking apps send appointment reminders, so check your settings first and don’t double-text clients. What they usually don’t do is text back calls you missed, fill a cancelled slot from a waitlist, or nudge clients who haven’t rebooked. Those are the recipes here.
Is Zapier free?
Zapier’s free plan covers 2-step Zaps and 100 tasks a month. A simple missed-call text-back fits that. Multi-step flows need a paid plan (Professional from $19.99/mo billed annually), according to Axis Consulting. Check your plan.
What do the texts cost?
If you send through Twilio, about $0.0083 per US text segment plus carrier fees, and $1.15/mo for a local number (Twilio pricing, Oct 2026). Business phone apps like OpenPhone include texts in their plan.
Will texts annoy clients? Is it legal?
Only text people who gave you their number, say who you are, keep it to one helpful message, and include “Reply STOP to opt out”. US business texting needs A2P 10DLC registration through your SMS provider.
I’m not technical. Can I do this?
The beginner recipes are 2-step: “when X happens, send a text”. Each one lists exact steps and an estimated setup time. If you’d rather pay someone, freelancers charge $150–$1,500 (see Packs).
