SMS opt-out wording and rules for salons
A short checklist so your automated texts stay welcome and within the rules. This isn’t legal advice; check the rules where you operate.
Checklist
- Consent: only text people who gave you their number for appointment messages.
- Identify yourself: start with your salon’s name.
- Opt-out: include “Reply STOP to opt out” and honour it straight away.
- Keep it relevant: appointment and booking messages, not daily promos.
- US A2P 10DLC: business texting from a 10-digit number must be registered through your SMS provider (Twilio docs). Twilio lists a one-time $4.50 brand registration fee.
Wording you can copy
[Salon]: your appointment is [day] at [time]. Reply C to confirm. Reply STOP to opt out.
[Salon]: sorry we missed your call! Book: [link]. Reply STOP to opt out.
Not legal advice.
Questions owners ask
Do I need STOP in every message?
Including it in every automated message is the simplest way to make opting out clear. Check your SMS provider’s guidance and local rules.
